1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files stored in your browser when you visit a website. We also use similar technologies โ local storage and session storage โ for some of the same purposes, and this policy covers those together with cookies.
2. Cookies on our marketing site
When you visit ndesk.chat, we use cookies to:
- Keep the site working โ remembering things like cookie-consent choices and form progress (strictly necessary)
- Understand aggregate traffic and which pages perform well, using privacy-conscious analytics (analytics)
- Remember that you dismissed a banner or opened a demo, so we don't show it again unnecessarily (functional)
3. Cookies set by the widget
When a customer installs the nDesk widget on their site, it sets its own cookies and local-storage entries in the visitor's browser, to:
- Recognise a returning visitor so a conversation can continue across page loads and visits
- Keep track of whether the widget panel is open or minimised
- Attribute a conversation to the page or campaign the visitor arrived from, where the customer has enabled that
4. Third-party cookies
Some cookies are set by service providers we use โ for example, payment processing on checkout pages, or embedded video. Those providers' own cookie and privacy policies govern the data they collect.
5. Managing cookies
You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings; most browsers let you block cookies from specific sites or all sites by default. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies may prevent parts of the site or widget from working correctly.
Where required by law, we show a consent banner on first visit that lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies before they're set.
6. Changes to this policy
We'll update the effective date above when this policy changes and, where the change is material, note it here.
